Welcome to a company
for HumanDesign®.
Welcome to Dauphin.

Dauphin solves seating problems. The brand name stands for patent innovation and healthy sitting world-wide.

Our corporate philosophy centres around people. Or to be more precise, seated people or "homo sedens". Whether short or tall, at work or at home, in a conference room or reception area - Dauphin's prime concern is to offer people the best possible seating solution systems. In a word: HumanDesign® for more comfort, for physical and mental well-being not only at work. This idea is backed up by an integral concept combining medicine, ergonomics, ecology as well as technology and design into a unique seating philosophy. A philosophy that we live and develop every single day in modern Dauphin seating and basic research.

HumanDesign® has a long tradition at Dauphin. The Büromöbelfabrik Friedrich-W. Dauphin, based in Offenhausen near Nuremberg in Middle Franconia, was founded in 1969. Since 1992 the enterprise has been a 100 % subsidiary of the international holding company Dauphin Office Interiors GmbH & Co. KG. Approx. 2,000 chairs are daily manufactured in our own production plants, thereof about 1,500 in Offenhausen. Additional chairs are delivered to our customers from our international license partners. In 2009 the Dauphin group with its 738 employees achieved a turnover of about 111,0 million euros.

By founding and organizing own distribution companies in Canada, Australia, Great Britain, South Africa, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, Dauphin has created local presence all over the world. Many other countries are served by licence holders or local representatives.

Besides to the production site in Germany, there are further production plants in the USA and Switzerland which are fully owned by the “Holding” and which manufacture selected products. Furthermore, there are shares of licence holders in Spain and South Africa.

Dauphin has a strong market position in Germany, however the export share of about 35% exceeds the average export share of the chair sector significantly. An additional 15% is achieved by the foreign subsidiaries with own local manufacturing plants (e.g. USA, South Africa, Spain). Therefore, the total share of “international sales worldwide” amount to approx. 50 %.

The Dauphin group has become one of the leading office furniture manufacturers in Europe with its 22 subsidiaries and manufacturing plants as well as numerous license partners and agencies in more than 63 countries.
