HighWay, the new range of chairs from Dauphin, has already received eight international design awards for its outstanding design features.

A process which began with the red dot 2004 from the Design Centre of North Rhine-Westphalia, one of the world’s most coveted stamps of quality, for the HighWay conference swivel chair sparked off a true explosion of further accolades.

The next honour, for instance, likewise for the conference swivel chair, was the NeoCon Silver Award 2004, which was bestowed during NeoCon, the most important US trade fair for office furniture in Chicago and in addition the design award GOOD DESIGN Award 2004 from „The Chicago Athenaeum“.

However, with its modern, even futuristic design and international appeal, the HighWay office swivel chair also created a furore, resulting in it earning two significant prizes from England (under the product name Speed Up on the English market). First of all, it received the BCFA Award 2004, which is conferred by the British Contract Furniture Association, and a short time after this it picked up the BED Excellence Award 2004 in the category “Task Seating“ from the Business Equipment Digest.

But there was more to come: the Hungarian Ergonomics Association, a department of the University of Budapest, recently awarded the HighWay office swivel chair the coveted title of “Office Chair of the Year 2004“.

Last but not least, HighWay did not go away empty-handed either when it came to the “Architecture & Office“ Prize for Innovation, a competition sponsored by the architectural journals AIT, ABIT and “Intelligente Architektur“ at Orgatec 2004. On the contrary, the HighWay cantilever chair and the conference swivel chair won two awards in the category “Products with high architectural design quality“.

The two innovations “Join Me“ folding table and “Join Me“ push stacker for the communication and seminar field received for their excellent design the GOOD DESIGN Award 2003, awarded by the museum “The Chicago Athenaeum”.

In 2005, “Join Me“ was confered the BED Excellence Award in the category “Task Seating“ by the Business Equipment Digest.

The “Join Me“ folding table can be transformed with a few pulls from a narrow piece of filing furniture into a training table twice the size with knee screen or into an even bigger, square table that can be linked up for discussions, seminars and the like.

The accompanying “Join Me“-conference chairs can be pushed together like shopping trolleys when the seat is folded upwards, thanks to the well thought-out geometry of its frame and consequently it saves a lot of storage space.

Thanks to their futuristic features and excellent design, Open End, the new all-purpose chair and Join Me, the intelligent folding table from Dauphin, have been awarded the red dot award, one of the most sought-after design awards worldwide.

Designed to be reduced and unobtrusive, with clear language and classic lines, the table and chair from the designer Martin Ballendat convinced the jury at this year’s red dot award.

Having received an honour in the “product design“ category, Open End and Join Me therefore rank among the best international design achievements. Twenty-six jurors from nine countries awarded the sought-after seal of quality for excellent design on behalf of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. The assessment criteria for the 1,494 products submitted from 28 countries include degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, symbolic and emotional content as well as ergonomics and environmental awareness.
